Introduction
Long gone are the days of using quill and parchment. Technology has revolutionized the way we write and communicate. When it comes to writing content for your business, technology can provide tools to make the writing process more efficient and enhance the quality of your writing. In this article, we’ll discuss how technology can be used thoughtfully in the writing process so that you can free up more time to do what you do best: work on your business.
Proofreading Software
One of the most helpful technological tools for improving your written content is a grammar and spellchecker. Language processing software can be used to quickly identify errors in your writing, including typos, spelling mistakes, awkward phrasing, and more. Not only can this save you time in the editing process, but it also ensures that your content is free of any embarrassing mistakes.
Is proofreading software always perfect 100% of the time? No, of course not. While they can help a lot and have come quite a long way in recent years, they still need a set of skilled human eyes to go behind them to be the final pass through. However, they are very good and picking up on things that your human eyes may have missed during the first couple of read-throughs.
Incorporating Voice Recognition Technology for Faster Drafting
I’ve spoken to many writers and content creators who say this one thing alone revolutionized their productivity and output more than anything else. Using voice recognition technology, you can quickly and accurately generate text from your spoken words. This can be very helpful in getting your first draft done more quickly so that you can have more time for editing and refinement.
When it comes to voice recognition technology, accuracy is key, as it will save you time in the long run if you don’t have to go back and fix too many errors in the text. It’s also important to choose one that works with your accent and language, as these can vary significantly from region to region.
Using voice recognition and dictation technology, you can produce content while doing other things—driving, taking a walk, cleaning the house—all times that you wouldn’t think you’d normally be getting any work done.
There can be a learning curve for this if you’ve never tried it before. Communicating via typing seems to use one set of brain cells while communicating via speaking seems to use another—to put it in layman’s terms. Making the switch isn’t always seamless. However, for those of you who feel you are better and more efficient communicators by speaking, it could be worth giving dictation and voice recognition software a try. You might be pleasantly surprised by how much faster you can produce your written content for your business.
Taking Advantage of AI-Powered Content Generators
Seems like these days you can’t look anywhere without hearing about ChatGPT. ChatGPT is an AI-powered content generation tool that can be used to create blog posts, articles, and more, both quickly and accurately.
The great thing about ChatGPT is that it’s interactive; you provide a prompt (a topic or headline) and then the AI does (most of) the rest of the work for you. It’ll generate content based on the prompt you give it and then you can edit it to make it your own. This is a great way to save time when creating multiple pieces of content at once.
The key here, however, is the same thing I mentioned above when it comes to proofreading software: you’ll still need a human set of eyes to go over what was produced. If you use facts, figures, and stats in your content, then it should be understood that AI writing software does not put accurate facts into what it spits out. It will place random data as a kind of placeholder to let you know where it thinks would be a good place to mention a stat, but it’s your job to ultimately do the research and swap out the AI-generated stat for one that’s accurate.
Also, a key point to this that I hardly see anyone else talking about—written content is so much more than the mere words on a screen. There is a “voice” behind it. More often than not, AI-generated content lacks that voice. If anything else, it lacks your unique voice as the business owner and primary content creator. You should take the time to review your AI generated content (should you decide to use it) and inject your unique voice into it. That’s what, in my opinion, will ultimately help you connect with your audience.

Conclusion
Technology can be used thoughtfully in the writing process to enhance your productivity without sacrificing quality. There are many tools available, from proofreading software to voice recognition technology, that can help you generate written content quickly and efficiently. And there are AI-powered content generators that can be used to create multiple pieces of content in a short amount of time. But it’s important not to forget the human aspect behind the words; you should always take the time to review your content, double check any facts and figures, and inject some of your own unique voice.
