Introduction
Effective content writing is essential for any business who utilizes content marketing. Content that is well-written, polished, and accurately conveys your message can be highly effective in building relationships with clients and customers, as well as driving traffic to your website.
However, it can be difficult to find the time to write high-quality content consistently. That’s why it’s important to use tools and tricks to make sure you remain productive and efficient when writing. Here are some content writing productivity tips that can help.
Set Clear Goals
Before you begin any project, make sure that you have a clear understanding of what needs to be accomplished. Outline your objectives and establish measurable goals that you can reference as you work. Doing this will help keep you focused and ensure that you’re writing content that meets the project requirements.
Create an Outline
Organize your ideas before you start writing. Creating an outline allows you to logically structure your thoughts and make sure that you’re not missing any important points.
Not only can you outline any one piece of content, but you can also outline your content posting schedule. A content schedule, or content calendar, will help you plan out the topics, ideas, and formats of content that you’ll be writing. This will allow you to easily manage deadlines and ensure a steady stream of high-quality content.
I like to do these a month ahead of time, but that’s me personally. Choose whatever timeframe works best for you. Building out a content schedule for the month ahead is helpful for me, because things happen sometimes, as we all know. When I’ve worked ahead, then having an “off week” doesn’t completely disrupt my usual flow of content.
Batch Your Tasks
Batching your tasks means tackling similar tasks at the same time. This will save you time and energy, as you won’t have to constantly switch between different types of work. For instance, allocate a certain day or part of the day where you write all of your content for that week.
This is another example of how having a content calendar will help. When you can look ahead and see that you have a month’s worth of content planned out, then it’s easier to sit down and knock out a bunch of content creation all at once.
Proofread Before You Post
This is oh-so-important and something I’ve written about many times before. Even the best writers make mistakes. That’s why it’s essential to proofread all of your content before you post it. This will help ensure that any typos and grammar issues are caught before they reach your readers.
Potential clients and customers can be wary of purchasing from a business that has content that’s full of typos and errors. This is true of myself and I’ve spoken with many people who feel the same way. Even if a business’s product or service is completely legitimate, innovative, and helpful, messy content can really make a bad first impression and turn away a lot of people.
A proofreader can be very helpful here. I go into detail about why this article: The Power of Proofreaders for All Businesses.
By the way, I also recommend using a proofreader even if you outsource 100% of your content creation. Why? Because a proofreader is all about having a separate set of eyes on something. No matter who created the content originally, their eyes and brain will never again be totally fresh to what they’ve written. A proofreader will be, and as a result, will be more capable to catching errors and have new ideas and suggestions for tweaks and improvements.

When it comes to writing content for your business, it’s important to stay organized and on track and, most importantly, consistent.
